1. 日前教育部停止永達技術學院103學年度招生，引發外界關注，行政院長江宜樺在院會中，指示請教育部在維護學生受教權、保障教職員權益原則下，協助達到預警指標的學校，逐步依輔導方案處理。針對教育部停止永達技術學院招生，院長也責成教育部妥善處理相關事宜，加強溝通，避免各界有所誤解。Yesterday, the Ministry of Education stopped Yong-Da Institute of Technology’s 2014 student recruitment and drew a lot of attention. The Minister of the Executive Yuan Yiang Yi-Hua instructed the Ministry of Education to make the necessary arrangements while taking into account the student’s rights of education and the faculty’s rights of employment. This issue should be carried out step by step with careful guidance. Regarding the halt to the student recruitment of the institute, the Minister ordered for a better handling of related issues and better communication between the school and the government so that no more misunderstandings will occur.
2. 國立臺灣大學與聯發科技攜手成立的「創新研究中心」正式揭牌，聯發科技每年將出資上千萬經費，聘請國內外專業人員與臺大近百位師生投入研發，除了將開發第五代通訊所需的前瞻關鍵技術外，還將研發無線接取、智慧手持裝置、行動網路與行動應用服務。National Taiwan University and Lian-Fa Technology co-founded an “Innovation Research Center” that has just been revealed and Lian-Fa Technology will fund tens of millions annually to hire experts from around the globe to join the research with near a hundred NTU staff and students. Except for developing innovative technology for the 5th generation of communication, wireless access, smart handheld devices, mobile network, and mobile accessibility will also be researched.
3. 國立成功大學今年碩士班報考人數下滑。成大表示，台灣大學等校也都有相同情形，主因是學生觀念改變，不急著讀研究所，決定先當兵或就業；學生們認為即使就業，也有許多碩士在職專班的進修機會，所以不急著讀研究所，先累積就業經驗。National Cheng-Kong University has seen a decline in the students applying for Master’s degree this year. The university stated that a similar situation is being seen in National Taiwan University. This is because students are changing their opinions about studying for Masters. Most would decide to enroll into military service or take up a career first. They think that even if they work first, there will still be many opportunities for them to enroll in Master’s degree. Thus, there is no rush for them to get into a Master’s program, instead, they would like to increase their experience working in the society first.
4. 旅英設計家薛曉嵐，自行研發中文圖像學習系統Chineasy，以簡易圖像化的教學，讓西方人覺得困難的中文字，竟然變得好理解和記憶，開啟學習中文的新方式。這套系統還打敗Google眼鏡，獲世界權威設計雜誌Wallpaper，選為2014年度生活革新獎！Designer Chue Tsiao-Lan who is now residing in England developed a system called “Chineasy” that simplified Chinese into pictures, allowing Westerners to learn the difficult Chinese characters easily. They can now easily understand and memorize Chinese characters, consequently opening a new door to the method of Chinese learning. This system defeated Google Glasses in the competition for the 2014 Lifestyle Innovation Prize hosted by the highly prestigious design magazine “Wallpaper”.
5.做環保還可以分享愛心！嘉義市環保局鼓勵民眾將家裡多餘環保袋分享，兌換手工環保皂等贈品。嘉義市環保局長林建宏說，多數塑膠袋是由石化與塑化劑製作而成，土壤掩埋不易分解，焚化不當則產生有害氣體，環保局鼓勵民眾自備環保袋購物外，還推動賣場及百貨公司回收環保袋，由服務台提供民眾索取。Recycle and spread the love! Chia-Yi Environmental Protection Bureau is currently encouraging the people to share their extra bags in their households in exchange for environmentally-friendly soaps as gifts. The Chia Yi city head of the Environmental Protection Bureau Lin Chien-Hong said that most plastic bags are made of fossil and plasticizer, which are not easily degradable by burying and burning them improperly also creates toxic chemicals. Thus, besides encouraging people to bring their own shopping bags, marts and department stores will also recycle these bags for second usage provided via the information counter to the people.
6.越南剛剛宣布停止招生的207個科系中，語言與藝術專業佔大多數。許多藝術學校因為師資學歷不足，被教育培訓部要求停止招生。各校領導認為教育培訓部並沒有瞭解各藝術專業科系的特點。教育培訓部裴文嘉(Bui Van Ga)次長表示：教育培訓部對學校師資博士學位的要求已經很靈活彈性了。Vietnam just announced that of the 207 departments that stopped recruitment, language and arts related departments make up the most of that number. Many art schools in Vietnam were shut down by the Ministry of Education and Training because of the lack of certified teachers. However, the schools think that the Ministry does not understand the features of each department and their respective requirements. In response, Bui Van Ga from the Ministry of Education and Training refuted that the academic requirements for professors are already very flexible.
